Gratitude the Right Attitude
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 16:8
BY Apostle Patrick Osondu | Aug 22, 2020
What
is Attitude? This is the attribute visible and easily noticed in the life of
many living persons. Sometime it is so conspicuous that a stranger that has been
told of it can identify somebody at their first meeting.
WHY GRATITUDE IS A DEEPER LEVEL OF
THANKSGIVING
Appreciating
a kind gesture from the depth of your heart, this is gratitude. Love they say
is the ultimate, but gratitude is the bedrock of love. For true love comes with
appreciation from the dept the heart. Therefore without gratitude, there is no
true love.
God
is love, anyone that lives in love, lives in God and God lives in him. No
wonder God desires and demands a life of gratitude from us all.
HOW
TO DEVELOP THE RIGHT
1.
Through obedience to the word of God. In
Psalm 140:13 God expresses gratitude and thanksgiving as an essential life style
of the righteous. He specifically declared that every righteous person for
certain will live a life of gratitude. This commands the presence of God that
always goes with God children. Psalm 95:2
1Thessalonians 5:18, specially teach us a difficult but essential of gratitude that only obedience can help us to achieve. For can you give thanks when you
are in distress, difficulty or bereaved, except you have humbly passed through
the school of obedience success fully.
2.
Never take God’s blessing for granted: A
lot of believers and Christians are guilty in this regards, they neglect the
essential provisions of the Almighty and such feel leaving to appreciate His
unfailing love. Their concern and attention strictly focus on their petition
and needs. Rather we should appreciate God deeply for the air we breathe, which
those in hospital bed pay so much as in millions for. Psalm 68:19 admonishes us
on this.
If
we can thank God and appreciate God enough for the hands that He gave us, He
will teach us how to work and make wealth with them. Isaiah 48:17.
A
song writer said “count your blessings, name them one by one, count and see what God has
done and it will surprise you how much He cares”. If we take our time to let out the
benefits we enjoy every day, we will always redeem our vows and pledges. Psalm50:14.
In Luke 17:12-15 Christ Himself shows us how He appreciated thanksgiving and deserves
it from us. Ten lepers ware cleansed, but only one returned to say thank you
Jesus. Bible recorded that the one that returned was made whole, was not
even a Jew. No wonder visitors and non members that come to true churches of
Jesus Christ, receive their miracles faster than most old members who often are
held down by murmuring and complaining.
3.
Living
a life of Contentment: Philippians 4:11 tell us to be contented
with what God has given to us. In 1 Timothy 6:6-11, if we serve God with
contentment we will experience great gain.
Most
family problems that arise among in-laws come as a result of expecting much
from people and when they don’t meet their expectations, disappointment will lead
to their bitterness causing hatred and anger that exist among family members. “If
you can think enough, what you have is enough” according to Bishop David Oyedepo.
4. Acknowledging God’s help and hand
in our life: Often the enemy makes us believe that
what we have achieved is by our strength and wisdom, but on the contrary all we
have and enjoy come from God alone. It is God who teaches us to make wealth.
Isaiah 48:17 He alone gives us victory 1 Corinthians 15:57. God also course us
to triumph
2Corinthians 2:14. Why then should we boast and take God’s glory, when we have no power of our own. Rather let us appreciate and thank the God that gives all to us freely. May this understanding lead us into a life of gratitude in Jesus name Amen.
5. Praising God happily at all times: Attitude of gratitude keeps us in an atmosphere of miracle. The realm of all possibilities, the presence of God the miracle worker.
Praising God with a joyful heart commands very good and pleasurable things to overflow. Psalm 16:11. This attitude of gratitude defines how much you love God. Only those that love God are they that can praise Him with happiness Psalm 5:11. Praising God with happiness commands restoration and change of stories Isaiah 51:1-3. It commands increase and expansion Jeremiah 30:19.
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT HAVING GRATITUDE AS THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
1. It courses murmuring and complaining. Numbers 11:4-6
2. Lack of faith in God to supply all our needs Exodus 16:2-3
3. Lack of faith in God’s word and power Psalm 106:24-29
4. It
causes lost of hope 1 Samuel 27:1, 1 kings 19:1-4, Jeremiah
5. It
makes even a child of God to feel that God is far away and does not hear. Job23:2-9, Psalm 10:1.
In
conclusion cultivate “Gratitude as your right attitude and you will continue to
operate in the attitude for unending success. As you do so may Almighty God whose
word never fails, grant your requests very speedily in Jesus Mighty name Amen
Shalom!!!
What a beautiful and life transforming message. Daddy may God bless you sir.
